Blight, Rent & Property Taxes in the 40th District

This event will tackle the issues of blight, rent, and property taxes in the 40th District. Join us at Baltimore Unity Hall to learn about some of the rather surprising reasons why these things are out of control. The good news— there are solutions!

Guests include the co-author of a recent report on undervaluation of vacant land in Baltimore, Greg Miller, from the Center for Land Economics; candidates for the 40th district delegation (invited); the president of the Madison Park Neighborhood Association, Omar Hamza; and more TBD. And we have a win to celebrate– thanks to the Fair Assessment Coalition’s efforts, including commission of the report, the State Department of Assessments and Taxation announced they are improving the way they assess vacant land. Appetizers will be served. Save your seat now via Eventbrite!

#RestEasyBby - Holding The Holiday Blues

Free Yoga, Sound Bath, and Healing Circle for those navigating, loneliness, hurt, disappointment, or just seeking a restorative space

Holding the Holiday Blues is a FREE community event for those navigating loneliness, hurt, disappointment or just seeking a restorative space this holiday season. Participants are invited to a gentle yoga flow and calming sound bath, followed by a healing circle discussion that offers space to be seen, supported, and held in community. Together, we honor our bodies and emotions towards peace and renewal. Gentle Yoga Flow and Restorative Breathwork facilitated by Naadiya, and Calming South Bath and Healing Circle facilitated by Dr. Munazza.

This event is free form, feel free to pop in when you want and leave when you need to. However, we ask that people stay for the sound healing portion of our event as coming and leaving will be disruptive to fellow resters. There will be a break between the sound bath and the healing circle.

#RestEasyBby is a Black collective of wellness practioners rooted in healing justice. Our sessions are infused with the wisdom of Black Femme elders and ancestors, especially of the teachings of the Tricea Hershey (The Nap Bishop) with the intention of allowing for a space for rest and healing to sustain our lives and our liberation.

Extra masks and mats available! Donations are appreciated, but not required. All donations go to support our teachers, and facilitators. If you purchase a donation ticket, you do not need to get a free ticket (or vice versa).

Sacred Ground Gallery and Opening Reception

Sacred Ground Opening Reception & Artist Talk

Come join us at Baltimore Unity Hall for the opening reception of our latest exhibition, Sacred Ground: Spirit, Memory, and Meaning in Baltimore.

Baltimore Unity Hall is located at a unique intersection of faith and tradition, surrounded by churches, synagogues, mosques, masonic lodges, and generations of spiritual history. This is an open call for artists, historians, faith leaders, and storytellers to share how spirit moves through this city, how sacred space is held, and what memory and meaning look like in your communities.

As we continue to grow, let us always remember we are not starting from scratch. We are building on the foundation of those who came before us, guided by their hopes, struggles, and dreams. And in doing so, we are making space for future generations to remember, too.

Look out for selected artists to be announced on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/baltimoreunityhall/
